Text: Lorna McGinty & Amy Robinson

What would happen if you could hear what everyone was thinking? What would happen if everyone could hear what you are thinking? What are you thinking?

Antonio de la Fe/OPENLAB

Would like to present before an audience a session of OPENLAB. OPENLAB is a research project I have been leading since February 2012 with a group of dancers. It centres around the concepts of presence and performing states through ways of engaging with perception, attention and other thinking processes.
OPENLAB is the name chosen for a series of sessions, lead by myself, in which a group of like-minded dance artist have met to experiment around the concepts of presence and performing states.

Caitlin Barnett Presents

A piece that uses physical movement and characterisation to create a feeling of unknown anxiety brought on by our own or someone else’s ‘demons’.
My work is an exploration and interpretation of personal demons, mine, yours, the dancers’, the audience’s, influenced by characterisations in film and music.
Using jazz and house inspired movement with contemporary dance to physicalise these demons and the feelings that manifest, to create a dark, exciting piece of dance theatre.

£3 tickets available on the door. Non-members welcome.

Hope to see you there! Long Live ChaChaCha!

And I don’t want to die alone, and not be found until my bones are clean and the rent overdue by Claudia Palazzo

Fragments exploring the mind of a woman with uncontrollable needs for consumption, a craving for sedation and a fear of becoming a cliche.

Near Gone by Katherina Radeva

A new solo piece exploring themes of death and near misses. Looking at what is real and what is not in moments of high stress and shock such as near death experiences the piece aims to tackle how we deal with reality and how much we try and hide behind the made up.

Stand-by by Tempered Body Dance Theatre

As active or non-active feminists of the 21st Century we are taught to be independent. Dependence on other people is accepted as weak and lacking courage. Same too with dependence on substances. Are we really saying these two categories of dependence are similarly devastating? When is independence destructive?

A Glimpse In Between by Mariana Amorim

Sometimes is just me in one side and in the other the world (Aires Torres)

We go around the city, passing through hundreds of people, different buildings and places. We inhabit the city in our personal way. All these places could tell millions of different stories.

Stories kept in between…in transition.

O by Alexandrina Hemsley and Jamila Johnson-Small

So it starts with this posture and then there’s this dance about stuff like how to begin, how to go on and other contemporary conundrums. And there’s this question - are we avoiding things?

£3 tickets available on the door.

Non-members welcome.

Long Live ChaChaCha!

The first ever ChaChaCha on 6th April was a storming success with offerings from three members and over twenty attendees offering support and feedback. Here are some of the photos!

Apart from a Cuban dance, what on Earth is ChaChaCha?!

Well, World, ChaChaCha is a new monthly event led by Chisenhale Dance Space members, for Chisenhale Dance Space members.

It is an opportunity for members - artists, companies and collectives (across art-forms) to test new ideas, early collaborations, take risks and provide feedback in a supportive, informal environment. It is a time for low-tech performance in a supportive atmosphere, and a chance for some generous feedback, and a catch up over a post-show drink.

Exciting, no?
